Some Gave All

"While only one day of the year is dedicated solely to honoring our veterans, Americans must never forget the sacrifices that many of our fellow countrymen have made to defend our country and protect our freedoms."

Randy Neugebauer

It's funny, sitting in church this morning as they were honoring the men and women who served my mind started to wander...  Oh admit it, you've been there! As tears filled my eyes, I started to think about how these men volunteered to fight for our freedom.  Appreciation started filling my heart, sure I have always appreciated them, but they died for us!

However, at the same time not only did He take beatings for us, but Jesus was nailed to a cross for our sins. God loved us so much that He sent His only Son to die for us.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."

John 3:16

We forget how precious life truly is.  We go through life complaining and not appreciating what is right in front of us.  We always want more.  We treat people as if they are beneath us.  Truth is we wouldn't have any of this if it weren't for God guiding our hearts and our lives.  And we certainly wouldn't have our freedom if it weren't for these men that fought and died.

Memorial day isn't about family barbecues, gatherings or even pools opening for the summer.  It's to honor these men and women who sacrificed their lives for us.

So today, I would like to take time out to and give my gratitude to these men and women who have already died, the ones who served and are still alive, the ones who are currently serving and the families that stood and are standing behind these soldiers.  Thank you for all you have done and are doing.  I truly appreciate you!

Remember to take the time out to thank a veteran or an active soldier not only today, but anytime you meet them and let them know that you appreciate what they have done and are doing.

"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends."

John 15:13
